Here is Salt Lake City’s current ranking in the list of “Best Places to Live”

City, Utah – The U.S. News & World Report does not seem to have the same high regard for Utah’s capital city, despite the fact that the same publication named Utah the finest state in the union earlier this month.
Salt Lake City was actually placed lower than a large number of communities from the Midwest, the South, and even BOISE, IDAHO.
Salt Lake was ranked 33rd out of 150 major American cities in the 2024–2025 rankings.
Given that it’s the largest city in the USN’s designated #1 state, how is it possible?
After accounting for factors such as employment market index, value or affordability of the city, desirability, and quality of life, SLC scored 6.5 out of 10.
Salt Lake City scored 6.4 in the quality of life category. With regard to worth, the city received a 6.8.
The study emphasized Utah’s somewhat cheaper cost of living when compared to other similar locations. According to the survey, Utah’s housing market is difficult to break into since prices are higher than the national median.
The state rankings, which were made public earlier this month, examined a few different factors, including the economy, opportunity, education, infrastructure, health care, natural environment, crime, and prisons.
Even while SLC isn’t at the top of the list, its position is an improvement over previous year’s, when it came in at number 58 overall. Though that isn’t the highest ranking SLC has ever had—it came in at number 23 in 2021 and 2022.
With an aggregate score of 7.1, Naples, Florida was named the greatest location to live this year. Boise followed closely, earning the silver medal and finishing in second place with a score of 7.0.
