Utah’s Labor Day weekend gas prices are higher than the national average

Utah – According to AAA data, gas prices in Utah are somewhat higher than the national average for the Labor Day weekend.

The average price of normal unleaded fuel in Utah is $3.56 per gallon, according to AAA’s gas price dashboard. At $3.33 per gallon, that is more than twenty cents higher than the national average.

When the figures are broken down by county, Rich County now has the most expensive gas, costing more than $4.00 a gallon. Right now, Millard County has the lowest price per gallon, at roughly $3.45.

When comparing metro areas, the average price per gallon for Salt Lake City and Logan is $3.54, which is approximately eighty cents less than in 2023. St. George is down more than fifty cents, with a small upward skew at roughly $3.60 per gallon.

In particular, Utah is performing better when it comes to diesel fuel, with prices currently hovering around $3.49 per gallon—twenty cents less than the national average and more than $1.35 less than what Utah charged in 2023.

This occurs as many tourists head out on the road to wrap up their summertime adventures. Prior to the holiday weekend, Utah was the 10th most expensive gasoline market, according to a prior AAA analysis. Hawaii is now maintaining its top spot, with a gas price of $4.65 a gallon.

In comparison, according to AAA, the average cost of charging an electric vehicle in Utah is 29 cents per kilowatt-hour, ranking it as the sixth least expensive state. At 22 cents, Kansas is in first place.
