Grass fire prompts evacuations near Snowbasin Resort
Utah – On Saturday deputies with the Weber County Sheriff’s Officer were evacuating homes in the path of a large grass fire near Snowbasin Resort.
According to the Weber Fire District, they are battling the fire, which occurred just before 5 p.m.
Sheriff’s officials reported the fire is burning in the Art Nord area off Old Snowbasin Road.
They didn’t immediately specify which homes were being evacuated.
According to the Weber Fire District, as of 6:30 p.m., the fire had burned approximately 8 acres and multiple homes were threatened.
Officials said the fire is being fought from the ground and air by Weber firefighters along with extra crews from Davis and Morgan County and the U.S. Forest Service.
The eastbound lanes of Highway 39 through Ogden Canyon were closed at the junction with Hwy. 158.
