West Nile virus detected in Davis County

Davis County, Utah – According to Davis County Health, the West Nile virus was found in a mosquito pool in Davis County.
The positive result of the mosquito pool is a sign of West Nile virus activity which can affect the public.
Davis County Health released the following guidelines for residents to protect themselves from the virus:
• Use insect repellent, according to label directions.
• Empty any water-holding containers in the yard which do not need to have water in them and change out the water in bird baths and horse troughs weekly.
• Wear long-sleeved, loose-fitting, light-colored clothing.
• When possible, avoid prolonged outdoor activity at dawn and dusk.
