Voters in favor of Ogden Valley being a city
Weber County, Utah – Although Weber County ballots are still being tabulated, the initiative unofficially succeeds because nearly 68% of voters support establishing Ogden Valley as a city.
The attempt to integrate Ogden Valley with local management and government was led by Mark Ferrin.
“It’s so pretty up here right now, we really hope to be able to keep that rural effect and still welcome the world to the Olympics, and cross country, and make it fun for everybody,” Mark added.
After conducting a feasibility analysis, the state came to the conclusion that incorporation would not result in higher taxation. Voters were asked whether or not the area should become a city once enough citizens signed the petition. Ferrin is happy with the outcome now that the measure has been passed.
“I believe that our one grocery shop will bring us closer together than ever before. “We’re overjoyed that the election went so well,” Ferrin continued.
However, the job is still ongoing. They intend to use other services and hire law enforcement through the county. Additionally, voters agreed that the city would have six council members, each of whom would represent a district that has not yet been defined. November 2025 is only a year away from that election.
For the next year, Ferrin stated, “I’ll probably run a candidate’s college once every other week or so, give everybody a chance to learn the vocabulary and decide if they want to run.”
Additionally, the county will assist the city in making some of its decisions.
Weber County Clerk Auditor Ricky Hatch stated, “We will work closely with them to align those districts with precinct and legislative boundary lines that we have set up, that will just make it easier for everybody.”
People are eager to see how this decision will affect Ogden Valley’s future. “It’s the process at work, whether you agree with it or not. They are now a different entity once their voices are heard and they make their decision. And watching that has been incredibly thrilling,” Hatch remarked.
