Icy roads impact some schools across Utah
Utah – Some Utah school routines have been impacted due to the recent winter storm and the continuing threat for lake effect snow.
Provo City School District:
Icy road conditions have forced the Provo City School District to instate below bench pickups for Friday.
Buses will not be following their normal routes.
Buses will be picking up students at different stops.
A list of bench stops are listed below:
South East Bench
• 2301 S State Street (UTA stop)
• 2051 S State Street (UTA stop)
• Nevada & Slate Canyon Dr. (Below Spring Creek)
Oak Hills, Sherwood Hills, North East Bench
• 820 N 1200 E (NW corner)
• 2276 N Temple View Dr.
• Northeast corner of the THS bus loading zone
• Foothill Drive & 650 East
Salt Lake City School District
Salt Lake City School District officials sent a notice that schools will be open and start on time Friday.
Students will not be penalized for arriving late due to road conditions, according to SLCSD.
“We encourage parents to make attendance decisions for their children based on their specific ability to get to school safely,” according to the district’s statement. “If you do not think it is safe to send or take your kids to school, you have the option to keep them home.”
Uintah School District
Students have the option to attend classes in person or complete their work online Friday.
