A semi truck ran over a woman in Sandy
Sandy, Utah — Wednesday morning a woman was killed on I-15 in Sandy, after the motorcycle she was on crashed, and a semi truck ran over her.
According to the witnesses, it happened around 3:30 a.m. on northbound I 15 about 8700 South.
“Witnesses indicated the bike began to fishtail and swerve,” said UHP Lt. Wade Breuer. “The bike goes down, ejects both the rider and the driver and a semi comes along and ends up striking and killing the passenger of this motorcycle.”
The driver of that motorcycle suffered only minor injuries and the semi truck driver was not hurt.
The crash has closed northbound I-15 from 10600 South to 7200 south and both the onramp and offramp at 9000 South are closed. Morning commuters are asked to take the I-215 exit to get around the traffic which is inching along.
The freeway is not expected to open back up until 10 a.m.
