Utah to receive $1.5 million for 2020 earthquake damages
Utah – The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has approved $1.5 million for “public assistance funding” for the Magna earthquake of 2020 according to a release.
This comes after the major disaster declaration was issued July 9, 2020.
Due to the damage and upheaval of the roadway from the Magna earthquake, the FEMA funds were given to the Utah Department of Natural Resources to reimburse them for the cost of repairs to the Salt Lake Marina Frontage Road.
By now, FEMA has provided over $3.2 million in Public Assistance funds for the Magna earthquake recovery.
The release states, “FEMA’s Public Assistance program covers eligible disaster-related debris removal, emergency protective measures, and the repair or rebuilding of public facilities such as roads, bridges, water control facilities, buildings, equipment, public utilities, parks, and recreational facilities.”
