2 people arrested in West Valley after police chase; third still at large

What started as a search for a parole fugitive in Salt Lake City ended with a police chase and two other people arrested in West Valley on Thursday night.
While officers with the Unified Police Department’s Metro Gang Unit were making their fugitive arrest at a home in the area of 900 W. 1300 South in Salt Lake, another car took off from the home, said Lt. Paul Barker.
Officers followed and tried to make a traffic stop when the driver fled and rammed a Metro Gang Unit truck, Barker said. The officer was not injured, and there was minor damage to the truck.
The chase continued south on Redwood Road, ending at Parkway Blvd. and 3400 West in West Valley City, Barker said.
Three people jumped out of the car and ran. Officers caught two of them — a man and woman whom Barker didn’t identify — but a third suspect got away.
Police called in a helicopter and K-9s to try to find the third suspect, but he got away. However, Barker said, police know who he is and will continue looking for him.
The vehicle used in the chase was stolen, Barker noted.
